Product quality and product reliability are two critical elements of a successful business.

According to the American Society of Quality (ASQ), “the difference between quality and reliability is that quality shows how well an object performs its proper function, while reliability shows how well this object maintains its original quality over time, through various conditions.”

When you think about these two terms from a service and support group perspective, you see that quality impacts service performance during the installation and warranty period, while reliability impacts that group during the post-warranty (service contract) period.
